OMG- it's happening!

Peeps, it’s happening… OCSC is reopening after 13 months, Sunday, April 18th from 4-11pm daily!

We are so, so, so excited to serve you. All mingling will be outside and we have built a temporary patio just for the occasion. Masks will be required to get in, order drinks, and use the restrooms- please always use front entrance for the time being. Also, let’s start out with NO DOGS please.

Capacity will be based on social distancing so there’s a chance you could get to the door and have to wait. You are welcome to call 919-933-0669 and see about your chances in advance but we won’t be holding spots.

We have done a lot to prepare but I would ask you to remember that we are all in this together. We are trying to make being here the best experience for you and for the staff. Please bear with us. We are strict about our community’s safety but we will be quite fluid about operations here at OCSC based on experiential observation.

So with that, I’m going to keep this one short.

BAR REOPENING- SUNDAY, APRIL 18 4pm-11pm daily // MASKS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY.

Is it almost time?

It’s been far too long since I updated all of you, my apologies for that.

We are all hanging in there and still cannot wait to open and get back to seeing you on the regs, making you drinks, and just generally creating a space where you all can relax and feel comfortable-together!

We are plugging away at some small renovation projects- knowing that WE DO NOT WANT TO CLOSE THIS MOTHER DOWN for anything else in the near future!!! We are still evaluating the numbers, staying in tune with the community, and plotting the best plan for opening that blends safety and normalcy.

How are you all? We just can’t believe that next week it will be ONE WHOLE YEAR that we have been closed! Do I still get to say OCSC is turning 20 in September? In some ways, this last year has been the hardest year of owning a business so I’m answering my own question with a resounding “YES!” and then following up with a Gemini-flip-flop-insecure comment of “RIGHT?”

Anyway, I just wanted to touch base and let all of you know that we are working on getting OCSC open soon but we don’t know exactly when- but you will know! Especially if you keep reading these emails or follow us on IG or FB. Or just walk by and look in the window- OLD SCHOOL!

OMG. WE JUST CANNOT WAIT!

Please FEEL FREE to reach out to me with how you feel about coming to the bar and any suggestions you may have for safety protocols. I can’t promise that we can put every idea in place but I would sure like to make all of you feel as comfortable as can be.

OCSC's opening thoughts

Hey there-

Since the beginning of this public health crisis, all of us here at OCSC felt a great sense of responsibility to the community that has held us up for over 19 years now. As a team, we decided to close 2 days before we were asked to by the state.

With all the unknowns of Covid19, we agreed with NC's decision to have bars be closed all summer and felt and continue to feel very fortunate to have Roy Cooper at the helm.

When we received word that bars would be allowed to open on October 2 with limited capacity and outside seating etc - we met immediately to discuss and start planning.

I worked with the Town of Carrboro, NC and my wonderful landlady on being able to build a temporary patio extension, I signed a contract with OpenTable and set up a reservation system that we schemed to try and make being at the bar as safe as possible for all of us, I definitely chewed the ears off of all my closest friends and family talking about safety measures and feasibility of some kind of normalcy, and finally we met as a staff again this week to finalize details and set an opening date.

WELL- we all want to open so badly and we want to get back to work for you all so much, but we have decided, collectively, we are not going to consider opening until after the new year.

WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH, I PROMISE!!

We have come this far and we just think that going into the holidays is not the right time to commence operations. With that said, I want to mention that we support all our fellow businesses that have made what we know are difficult decisions to open- every situation is different.

YOU GUYS, we miss you so much and can't THANK YOU enough for the support you have given us for 8 months now! We couldn't have done this without you and we cannot wait to bring OCSC back to our community!!

Keep checking facebook and IG and www.orangecountysocialclub.net

BIGGEST (AIR) XOXOXOXO, Tricia

OCSC JULY

a long overdue email from me-
what else am i doing?
i can't write a note?  i stink.  my apologies.

i cannot express the gratitude i feel for the notes i have received from friends and customers missing us- we miss you all SO MUCH!  but we do stand by that being safe is the most important thing so we are resolved to being closed until the time is right.

we are hanging in there... all of us and ours are healthy, thank goodness.  we have been able to do a few small cosmetic renovations and some deep cleaning projects.  new urinals- what?  so exciting! (thumbs down emoji, giving a depressing raspberry emoji)

we have met as a staff a few times and have been in an ongoing discussion of how we will operate safely once open- our ideas on protocols are ever-evolving as we know more(and the numbers change) and i imagine they will definitely evolve once we open and all move through a day together.

how are all of you?  i hope well.  this situation is so terrible.  again, i dearly thank people on the front lines from the get-go: grocery store workers, farmers, nurses, doctors, maintenance people, service workers, and all i'm not mentioning.
