At least you know that when you sign up for OCSC emails, you are not, by any stretch of the imagination, barraged with emails…
How are you? My name is Tricia. For those of you who don’t know me, I own the bar and have done since opening it twenty-five years ago this month.
It’s a big milestone, not one that I have taken lightly. Still, the best job I think I do is bringing the bar in it’s natural state to you all, seven days a week (save some vacations and holidays) for the last quarter century. Alas, I am trying my best, as I put down my check list to write this, to organize a wonderful gathering that will celebrate our community- a community that has been SO GOOD to OCSC for all these years!!!
Cue OCSCQC!! We are assembling a fierce team of bands, djs, writers, arm-wrestlers, farmers, friends and, of course, the fiercest team of bartenders! to entertain you when you want to be at the bar Sept 24, 25, & 26 between 4pm- 1am. EVERYTHING will take place inside at the front window but you will be able to hear stuff outside. fun! doable, one would say! manageable for a small staff and one (semi) old lady who runs the place! yes.
If you haven’t seen the “advertisements” that my wonderful and talented husband, Charles Chace, put together- you should find them. Look for us on IG @orangecountysocialclub . Most things you may see that weekend are listed there, but I can’t tell you when you might see them. EVERYONE is going to be so great! Just pop in when you can!
PEEL! SHIFT CHANGE!
Peel Gallery is hosting Shift Change. Sept 2-Oct 4
Opening party Sept 11, 2026 6-9pm music by Server and Verity Den!
This group exhibition is on view in conjunction with OCSCQC. Shift Change showcases art produced by some of the bar’s past and present staff. OCSC has always maintained a small, close team, made up of many local artists and musicians. As the show’s title suggests, Shift Change recognizes the exciting work these individuals are doing when they’re not on the clock at OCSC. Join us in celebrating, as they step out from behind the bar to share their art with the community.
OK- Some differences in the schedule coming up. In general, we like to be open 4pm-2am daily but some special things have come up, all around the same time.. GOOD THINGS! and we need to have a few changes.
SUNDAY, SEPT 27, we will be open 4-11pm
SATURDAY, OCT 3, we are closed for a private event
FRIDAY, OCT 23, open 4-8, 11-2am, we will be closed for a private event 8-11pm
SATURDAY, OCT 31, we will be open for a grown-up halloween celebration! 4-10pm
In case you missed, Chapel Hill Magazine had a nice piece about us.

Lastly, DON’T FEAR, NEW MERCH is coming! we are making new zip up hoodies, long sleeve unisex raglan shirts, and tees for the 25th. Come see us at the bar to acquire one!
I cannot say enough thank yous to everyone in the community. My staff (past and present), friends and family first though. Dear beloved customers, my landlady, town of carrboro, out of town bands, fellow business owners, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, djs, bands who have played other events… omg, I can’t. These 25 years don’t just happen, say it with me- it takes a village. Thank you all. I’m so, so lucky.
